"They're Standing Firm on the Casting of Their Man!"

(To the tune of "Seventy-Six Trombones" from The Music Man)
by Diane F.

The composer of POTO led the big charade,

With the powers at Warner Bros. close behind.

There were petitions by all of those,

Who the original Phantom chose,

Letters sent of every shape and size!

In nineteen hundred and ninety eight the campaign was begun,

To persuade the Powers That Be to change their minds.

There were thousands and thousands of pleas,

From the fans who’d not concede,

They’d stand firm on the casting of their man!

The saga became a circus with a big buffoon,

Blundering, blundering, all along the way!  ;)

Searching for his Christine, selling out his tunes,

He presumed, it would be all his way!

But there were thousands unhappy fans who were still gathering,

Protesting, protesting, louder than before!

Fans in every shape and size

Their principles they’d not compromise,

They'd demand the promised actor, film and score!!

(Musical Break)

The campaign continues on to make them get the point…

Here the history of battles fought will ever stay…

To the rhythm of Hark! Hark! Hark!

We will strive to leave our mark,

And continue on until the final day!!!
