Comments: I've heard some recordings of Michael Crawford.(including POTO^^)He has the voice of Phantom what I have imagined.

Michael Crawford is the man for Phantom and the role is for him. Whether it's in the musical or in the movie.

Comments: I have followed Michael's career for a long time. From his comedic days on UK TV. His voice is just phenomenal and of course only he is able to do justice to 'The Phantom'.

Comments: I found out the other day of the new Phantom movie, and the fact Gerald Butler was cast as the part. I was THRILLED until I saw this page. You see, Michael's voice is the most beautiful thing that has ever happened to me. I feel it in the music of the Phantom, but it is his voice which send chills down my spine, and makes the Phantom come to life. I fell in love with the Phantom at the age of 13, and have remained in love even at the age of 25. Don't tell my life partner this, but the Phantom even beats him out! I hope Michael knows that this page exsists, because then at least he knows that we all love him so much. Michael is fortunate to have such loyal fans.

Comments: Michael Crawford is the only possible one for the part! No one can even compare. He brings to life the incredible story written by Gaston Leroux. When I saw Phantom for the first time,it was with Michael Crawford. No Michael-No show! You have my vote. What else can I do to help the cause?

Comments: I have been searching for the VHS recording of "Phantom of the Opera", starring Sarah Brightman, Michael Crawford, and produced by Andrew LLoyd Webber. My search began over 10 years ago...and I am still just as passionate about finding it now, as I was then.... Can anyone out there help me? Thank you for your time.

Comments: Michael Crawford should have gotten the role as Phantom! What is this "too old" business?? nobody is "too old" to be cast in a part as long as they live the part and make the part come alive. Michael Crawford does that! however, I am STILL going to see it. I swear, if they tear that apart.... then ALW will cease to be a GOD!

Comments: We would like to clear up a few misunderstandings that some of you seem to have.

One-we are well aware of all the developments concerning this movie. Most of us have been following POTO from the time it opened in NY and the movie saga from the day Warner Bros announced that it would be made with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman. This site was created after the rumors began that someone other than Michael Crawford (at that point it was John Travolta) might be cast as the phantom. We have followed every bit of news since then.

Two-we are Phantom of the Opera fans and many of us have seen it multiple times. Most of us never heard of Michael Crawford before POTO or were vaguely aware of who he was. We went to the theatre expecting a nice night of theatre and saw one of the most extraordinary performances ever. Robert Osborne, who writes for the Hollywood Reporter, in a recent article urging everyone to see Hugh Jackman in Boy from Oz, told everyone it was one of those performances that would go down in theater legend like Yul Brynner's King, Ethel Merman's Gypsy and Michael Crawford's phantom. He's absolutely right. Fortunately you can still see Yul's king preserved for all time in the movie. Too bad you can't see the others.

Three-what we fought for was the preservation of an extraordinary performance. It is WRONG that Julie Andrews' Eliza was lost; It is WRONG that Carol Channing's Dolly was lost; it is WRONG that Angela Lansbury's Mame was lost and it is WRONG that Michael Crawford's phantom is going to be lost. Future generations will be deprived of these extraordinary performances and that is WRONG.

Four-this site is a tribute to an extraordinary performance which should have been preserved and to the thousands of POTO fans who fought hard for it.

Comments: I love music very much. A few months ago I heard the recording of "The Phantom of the Opera". I would like to say that I had never heard before a voice that could reflect all the emotions of the character as well as Michael Crawford does. My mother and I would be very happy if we could see him in the film of "The Phantom of the Opera". Thank you. Yours sincerely, Natalia Chernavina Salueña.

Comments: Michael Crawford is the only real Phantom... if you don't believe me just look at the awards and go to the theater to see him work his magic. Mr. Webber, I mean no offence but I think that you must not be thinking very clearly. Mr. Crawford... I support you 100% and I really want to see you in this movie.... It's getting harder to get out to the theater and I believe you should go for it!

Good Luck!

Just another devoted New Yorker...

Comments: Michael is the ONLY PHANTOM. I just arrived home from New York on the 17th of May. My hotel was just around the corner from Phantom. I was going to see the play, but could not bring myself to see another play Phantom or Christine. Ms. Brightman and Mr. Crawford are the ONLY PHANTOM and CHRISTINE. I am now reading the original book, and have the original soundtrack with Ms. Brightman and Mr. Crawford. It is wonderful. Please bring them back with Andrew Lloyd Weber's music. WONDERFUL!!

Comments: I saw the show. Michael THE MAN was brilliant. It beats the 1925 version staring Claude Rains.

I wish I could obtain it on dvd for my wife. Andrew Lloyd Webber certainly produces some great shows. I wonder whats next a repeat by Michael?

Comments: I don't know if anyone has thought of this or not... but why don't we just let ALW have his film. That is, don't drop the chandelier BEFORE the movie premiers (boycott Warner Bro.s/not watch the movie) but make it the success it should have been if Michael Crawford WAS cast. But here's the catch!!!!! What we could do AFTER the movie blows the box office away is to write public complaints in national/ international entertainment news papers and TV programs about how ALW SHOULD have casted MC. I think the public humiliation would be much more of an impact than just letting the movie silently fall face down in the mud. Idea number two would be... how about commissioning Columbia (the original smart ones who casted Lon in the title role of the 1920's version) to do it RIGHT. Again! If they were smart enough to cast Lon back then, they would be smart enough now (hopefully) to cast Michael in a new version. Then give Columbia glory, making Warner Bro.s feel sorry for not listening to us but to ALW. ALW grew a brain when he casted MC in his original POTO but somehow stopped using it when he didn't cast MC for his movie. The worst part about it is that Michael was promised that part... wasn't he? What a liar!!!

Comments: Not putting MC as Phantom is just plain BLASPHAMY!!! It's like casting Madonna as Christine (no offence to Madonna fans) I'd just as soon see Elmer Fudd cast as Phantom if not Michael Crawford. (I hope that came out right)Michael Crawford - the only Phantom EVER!!! Hear that?!?

Comments: After reading some of the articles written on the movie and about Michael Crawford being "too old" I think that the people in charge (ALW) has lost his mind. The phantom role was made to be played by Michael and it really is sad that the world will never see him play it on film. I'm lucky I have a copy of him both on tape (vhs) and a "live" performance (cassetee tape) so at least I will always be able to remember the one true "phantom":)

Comments: Michael Crawford should have been in that movie a long time ago. You only have to see him once to know how much passion he places in his role, how much he loves, and lives for it, and how easily he captivates you. At the very least, this up coming Phantom movie should have been his triumph. He only needs one chance to show the world how he could shine. Let’s give him that chance.
