Comments: If Michael isn't starring in 'Phantom' I don't know if I can bring myself to watch it...he is the best at the part and you'd think that Andrew Lloyd Webber would want the best!!! CAST MICHAEL CRAWFORD!!!! :0)

Comments: I listened to Phantom, through earphones, every night for about 6 weeks. Finally, my daughter and son-in-law took me to Toronto to see the play. I was so excited I couldn't wait. Unfortunately, I never "felt" the play. To me, it was not at all the same without Michael Crawford. He is the one and only Phantom. How could a movie even be considered unless Michael agreed to the part?? He is magical.

Comments: The words Michael Crawford and Phantom of the Opera go hand in hand. It would be hard to imagine what a fake Phantom would be like, cus I've been listening to Michael for the past 2.5 years. I've always dreamed of singing with Micheal, and now *sob* I won't even see him preform on the big screen! MICHEAL FOR PHANTOM!!!

Comments: I have been acting, singing and directing for over 30 years. I have had the difficult task of appearing in a role (in a musical) that was made famous by someone else; it is not the easiest thing in the world to do. However, when I attend performances of shows made famous by a particular actor, I am pleased to say that I can absolutely suspend my memory and enjoy the performance that is played out before me without subconscious judement. That having been said, HOWEVER, Michael and Sarah should not lose out on this because the powers that be putzed around on this issue for over a decade. Is the problem that they may have both lost a few notes off the top or is it their physical looks? The Phantom can be any age, in fact, it is probably better for him and Christine to be in a Professor Higgins/Liza Doolittle relationship. And now their voices are both much darker and richer, suiting the roles even better than they did in the beginning. Worse-case scenario: have them lipsync to their own recordings of the show!!!!!! They would still sound better than all the blonde tarts who do that for big bucks at the nation's arenas.

Comments: Michael Crawford is my favorite singer. I have wanted him to star in the Phantom movie for a long time. He is the best Phantom. Would it have done so well if he hadn't created the role? Who knows? Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do now. Even if Crawford will not be in the motion picture, he will still live in our hearts as the best Phantom. Who knows? Maybe Lloyd Webber will release a video version of show (like Cats, JCS, and Joseph) and cast him in that. Until then, thank you Michael for your wonderful voice.

Comments: I can add my support for Michael Crawford as the movie Phantom. It is inconcievable to me that any other person could play this role with his dramatic style and voice. Your other guests clearly also agree with this. I would like to put in a plug, however, for his leading lady. While I like Sarah Brightman very much, I would cast Dale Kristien as Christine in the movie version. I have had the pleasure of meeting Dale and heard her in Phantom and in concerts. She has an extraordinary voice, a great stage presence and is one of the nicest people it has been my pleasure to meet. I've never been more impressed with any vocalist. This combination would surely have a long and successful run. Thank you for allowing me to make these comments.

Comments: I look forward to the movie but wish with all my heart that Michael Crawford was starring in it. He is the true Phantom of the Opera. It is His voice I hear each time I hear the songs and His magnitude that is the Phantom. I am sure the others are great but He is the Man.

Comments: its a travesty that this movie is coming out without michael crawford as the Phantom. i missed a chance to see him on broadway in the late 80s and regret ever since fortunately i was able to catch him in austin with the touring show of music of andrew lloyd webber and he was unbelievable....his voice so haunting, so incredible, this movie SHOULD have been with him in the lead....

Comments: I can't believe what they are doing with this movie. The fans are treated like dirt. Not surprising though considering Schumacher's treatment of the Batman fans. People being dubbed. Now I hear that Meg Giry's part is being cut because of the actress's horrendous accent. Didn't anyboday notice that while they were filming? I suppose they figure Phantom phans will go no matter how bad it is. Well count me out. My friends don't like musicals anyway and I certainly won't drag them to this farce.

Comments: I was completely shocked that the dirctor of this movie was the same one who rejected the offering 15 years ago and is now doing this flim . He wanted a new younger and sexy cast and ALW agreed as long the 3 lead actors can really sing good. My curiosity has rising to it peaks even tho i am a big fan of Michael Crawford i am going to see this movie and i hope and i pray that ALW can really pull it off just like he did with the london org brodway cast!!! Michael Crawford is da best !!!!

Comments: When I heard they were finally making a film based on ALW version of Phantom I had tears of happiness in my eyes. Then I found out Michael Crawford had not been cast. It made no sense to me. He made the role what it is. His haunting voice and portrayl of the Phantom is what made me fall in love with it at the age of 11. A movie with out him would not be true to the spirit of the character. No other can possibly play the role with the passion and romance that he did. It would be an insult to the story if he is not the phantom. I have spoken to many people who will not see it unless he is cast as the phantom. To be honest I am not sure I will either.

Comments: OHH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! How can they do this to me?! To US, the Phantom Phans?! When I found out that someone else was singing the role, I literally cried! I know that someday, what I want to do for a job is Broadway acting, since I love to sing and dance. The play I most want to be in is the Phantom of the Opera ever since I first heard it when I was a very little girl. I have always listened to the hypnotizing, mesmorizing voice of Mr. Michael Crawford as the lovable Phantom. I cannot get over him. I thought that if I got to see him on the screen as the Phantom in the movie, that it would inspire me to practice even MORE to get those high notes so I can play Christine (I just can't wait until the kiss scene at the end!). We, the Phantom Phans, must promise to keep the Music of the Night alive by supporting Mr. Michael Crawford. LONG LIVE THE PHANTOM!!!

Comments: Well Mr. ALW, I hope your happy. You have completely ruined a wonderful play. I was appalled and disgusted when I even heard mention of Antonio Bandaras playing the Phantom. I think that the casting should've been better. but since the movie is comming out in December of this year its prolly to late. may TPOTO dry up and fail on stage and in theaters ..for shame on you..and in the words of Ms. Sophia Potrillo from the Golden Girls.."You Yutz!"

Comments: I have been deprived, I have yet to see MC on stage, but my best "girlfriend" introduced me to the Phantom of the Opera a couple of years ago and I loved it. I'm going to go see it when it comes out in theaters..since its prolly gonna be my only means of seeing the Phantom. But it is a shame about the casting. Maybe for my 21st b-day I'll treat myself to seeing it on stage. *smiles*

Comments: Michael Crawford is my Idol. From the first time I heard him sing "Music of the Night" on CD I was spellbound, much as Christine Daae was when she heard the Phantom through the mirror. I would do anything to assist a website trying to help Michael Crawford. I plan to join and try my hardest to get Mr.Crawford into the title role, to once again play The Phantom of the Opera.

I only today found out it is the same Michael out of Some Mothers do Ave 'em ! I listened to my cd and was amazed at his talent. I am hoping to see phantom of the opera soon in london as they dont show it anywhere else. I for one would buy the film and it would be absolutely breathtaking to see michael perform it as I doubt I will ever see him live. Let the original Phantom show the world the true phantom! Go Michael !

Comments: Please, please, please! There can be no other person who fits this role so perfectly. After 18 years of the Phantom running here in London ask anyone to name any of the other phantoms and they will not be able to. Michael has stamped his name on this role. To have anyone else play this would be a travesty - and, to play on your real driving force, ensure less income from box office receipts ...

Comments: I can't wait to see Michael Crawford play the Phantom in a movie. Out of every movie I've seen & play I've heard, he has been my most favorite actor to play The Phantom. Michael Crawford rocks.

Comments: My teen aged son is the one who actually introduced our household to the Phantom of the Opera. One day while I was cleaning in a room upstairs of our home, I was overcome by the most beautiful music I had ever heard. He was playing a tape in his room and I learned the glorious sound was the sound track from a musical. Ever since then I have been hooked on it. At that time I was having difficulty with our teen aged daughter and for whatever reason, she became facinated with the music. The next thing I knew we had tickets to see the musical in New York! We could not wait to see New York, but most of all, we could not wait to see the "Phantom". We were not disappointed in the least. In fact, we even tried to go back stage to meet Michael Crawford and all the other cast members. We bought everything "phantom" we could afford and went away with phantom scenes and phantom music in out heads. Maybe it was the timing, the music, the theme or all of the above, but for whatever reason, this great musical made such a impact on my daughter during a really rough time in her life that she made a complete turn around and "grew-up" during that season. For that I am forever thankful this musical came out when and the way it did. Since then, my husband and I have seen it twice more; once more in New York and in L.A. Michael Crawford was in two of them and in my opinion, he was the absolute best "Phantom"

Comments: I saw the original Phantom with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman----Never forgot it!! Michael Crawford brought tears to my as with his amazing voice and portrayal of the Phantom. I saw the recent Phantom 3/18/04. Although the performance was substantial--I kept wishing Michael and Sarah were there.Michael Crawford IS the Phantom forever--any other playing HIS role I won't even see.
