I had recently
seen the DVD for Andrew Lloyd Webber's 50th birthday at the Roayl Albert
Hall, in which I saw the performance of 'The Phantom of the Opera' song
by Sarah Brightman and Antonio Banderas.
I was hoping it would be a reasonably good performance, but boy was I
wrong! I was absolutely disgusted by the way Antonio was singing!
I have never seen any performances of TPOTP with Michael Crawford in it.
In fact, I never even knew there was such a performance until I bought
the soundtrack out of curiosity (with Sarah Brightman and Michael
Crawford). I feel in love with the Phantom almost instantly, and like
others, I have also developed a taste for classical music and other
tastes which I considered strange at first. I even have the radio
channel for classical music constantly on in my car, even though my
mother and brother absolutely distests it.
Actually I'm slowly getting my brother hooked on TPOTO. He only likes
the one song 'The Phantom of the Opera' but when he heard the Antonio
and Sarah version, he immediately wanted to listen to the Michael
Crawford version. Now, that is strange for someone who liked ONLY
Science fiction previously and absolutely detested any type of
show/performance that had music in it.
So if that little bit of information helps in some way, it would be wise
for the true, original, absolutely spell bounding actor (A.K.A.
'attractive idiot'), Michael Crawford to play the role of the Phantom in
the movie.
If that information didn't help, I could fill this guestbook with a
number of other people who find so much pleasure in Michael Crawford's
voice.
Speaking about the Royal Albert Hall concert, I also forgot to mention
about Michael Crawford's 'in concert' DVD which I own. While Antonio
performed 'The Phantom of the Opera' song, he didn't seem to remind me
vividly of the Phantom (he just reminded me who was... IS the better
actor for the role of the Phantom).
However when I saw Michael Crawford perform the duet with Dale Kristien
(pardon the spelling), I could see the Phantom moving about the stage by
Dale. I mean, Michael was wearing a tuxedo throughout the concert but
his facial expressions and mesmerisizing behaviour actually made you see
the Phantom.
For us unfortunate fans who were unable to attend the performances, it
would be nice to see a movie of the Phantom (with Michael Crawford in
it) to make up for the loss.
While I am here, would anyone be able to find a lost penpal? Her name is
Louise (another Phantom fan) and her address is: sunshine@iprimus.com.au
I have tried to get back in contact with her, but I have been
unsuccessful. I am concerned as I haven't heard from her for many weeks.
I wish to know if she is alright, please send me a message if you have
information of her whereabouts.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message. As in the words of
the very man himself:
"I remain, gentlemen (and ladies) your obedient servant".
Let's all hope some good comes out of all these messages from the
various fans around the world. |
