Comments: I think that Michael is a great actor and singer, i have to admit that i was a little shocked when i heard him sing on his album, compared to his role as Frank Spencer in "Some Mothers do 'ave 'em!" I didn't actually get to go and see him at theatre as the Phantom, but i'm hoping to be able to go and see him in his upcoming roles! Hopefully he'll do Phantom of the Opera again!!!! Pleeeeeeeease Michael!!!!
From a great fan!!

Comments: I just came by to lurk awhile and see what was going on and what a surprise to see the message board has taken a vacation! To everyone involved in running this amazing board especially our fearless leader, Di, enjoy yourselves, you have worked long and hard and are long overdue for this well-deserved break. For myself, I am going to miss being able to check in here every couple of days or so just to see what's new. I have made some incredible friendships on this board that will last a lifetime and for that I thank you all. Hopefully, the future will hold news of the making of the Phantom movie starring the one and only Phantom, Michael Crawford, and we can all come back here and celebrate.

This campaign has been a wonderful place to come and exchange news, vent our frustrations that this movie has not already been made, and made properly, or to just have fun. Already the PTB have lost the opportunity to make this movie with Sarah Brightman and the last Steve Barton. Will they now delay long enough to lose Michael Crawford, as well? If so, it will not only be their loss, financially, but we will all lose. I was not one of those fortunate souls to have seen Michael Crawford in the Phantom on stage but fell in love with the story because of the emotion he brings to the roll simply from hearing his voice on the OCR. I have hoped and prayed for this movie to be made with him so I could see for myself what everyone else has raved about for years and I will continue to hope and pray that his incomparable performance is not lost for all time.

Take care, everyone. You've been a part of my life for so long now I don't know what I'll do without you! But I'm looking forward to coming back someday, hopefully soon, and rejoicing that the campaign mission has been accomplished and sharing the experience of seeing POTO on film.

Love,
Kathe

Comments: Michael Crawford is once again demonstrating his awesome talent on Broadway and proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that his name is a true box office draw. In reporting on his new show, the media still refer to him as the Phantom. Not the first Phantom or the best Phantom, but THE Phantom. He WAS the first and he WAS the best, and he is also the ONLY Phantom in the consciousness of the general public. If and when this movie is made, Michael Crawford should be the only actor considered for the lead. He was, is, and always will be the box office name in this role.

Comments: I understand that there is a video of Phantom of the Opera, just as there is one of Cats and Lloyd-Webber's birthday, but is stashed away in some sacred place where only professionals can view it and learn from it. Why, in Heavens name can't the video of Phantom be released so all of us can enjoy it? It makes no sense.

Comments: noody else can give the kind of spirit michael crawford gives as the phantom. any other actor would completely ruin the role. what makes a movie great isn't all the special effects, it's the people who play the parts. when you watch a great movie you arn't affected by how well the explosives are it's the person. the feeling and emotion you recieve from them. michael crawford falls into this catagory and he gives 200 percent when he sings. i truly believe that if you want to please the public and at the same time make money, choose CRAWFORD.

Comments: Michael Crawford is perfect for the role in the film version but I believe Franc D'Ambrosio would also excell in the part as well... I saw him as the Phantom in the San Francisco production eight years ago at the Curran Theater and he was absolutely brilliant. As for Christine Daae, Lisa Vroman, also in the same production I saw, should play the part. And after seeing him in MOULIN ROUGE, Ewan MacGregor would be ideal playing Christine's love the Vicomte. In terms of directing a musical film in this day and age, you will need a master... Baz Lurhman is given too much to fast-paced editing therefore quite possibly damaging the great, yet subtle momentum the play embodied. Therefore, an unknown genius should be given the assignment. I can't think of any big names who would be great at directing a musical for the screen.

Comments: I have The Phantom of the Opera, and I listen to it every day (sometimes more then once). I love Michael's voice, he is excellent. Some of my friends and I know the the entire musical by heart(almost). We even have our own litle cast, not that we perfom or anything. Mr Crawford is a great aspect to the theater world, and I hope to see him perform live one day.

Comments: How can they contemplate casting anyone but Michael in the role of the Phantom? It just wouldn't be the same!! His voice is unrivalled, the kind that comes along only once in a while, and the Phantom is the perfect role for such a talent.
He's delighted us for so long on the stage, and on the Soundtrack, that's its obvious no one else could fill his shoes in the role.
Need I say more?

Comments: I'm not sure if I've signed this already. Oh well.

I am such a major phan and it definitely helped me through a difficult period in my life. Despite the fact that I am now engaged, I can still say truthfully that I shall forever keep Erik in my heart, because he (my fiance) is that to me and I couldn't ask for anything more in a man.
I would like to see the movie made for posterity. Nothing will ever replace the live show with MC, but I think if carefully done, it could become an outstanding film, but for this to happen, the finest actors would be necessary. I am so relieved now that AB won't get the role, but I would be ESTATIC if MC were to get to play he who has captured and enchanted our hearts. He has played him for years and know this Erik to the very soul, and that is irreplaceable. Also, his voice is divine, and is at its ripest point to play this character. Lastly, he's a brilliant actor. Please do that which is just.
Sultana

Comments: This website is GREAT!!! I really think that Andrew Lloyd Webber's play version of The Phantom of the Opera should be a playwright, not a movie!! Warner Brothers can kiss my butt because I think that the magic created on a stage CANNOT be created on film, its impossible! Nothing is better than being in a performing arts center and having it all happen RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU! The feeling you get when you hear the music and voices echoing all around you... and you really GET into the whole wonderful feeling and scene. Then when you get out of the theatre you try so hard to get back into reality..you think you are still in that scene. I LOVE IT!! I just wish Warner Bros would just leave the play alone!!

Comments: As the critic on your site said, I can't imagine a Phantom of the Opera movie without Michael Crawford. He is, and forever will be, the only person I think of when one says Phantom. I have actually seen the production three times - once on Broadway and twice with the touring company, and while each of those phantoms (regretfully, not including Michael Crawford) gave very fine performances (some better than others), I kept comparing them to Michael's performance on the Phantom of the Opera CD and also his performance of Phantom selections during his concert tour in which he performed Andrew Lloyd Weber's music. I don't think I would want to watch a movie that did not include the man for whom Mr. Webber originally intended the part. I have been so looking forward to actually "seeing" Michael play the Phantom (when I heard there would eventually be a movie made) that I am upset there is even a question that he may not be asked to reprise his role. I am sure there are, and will be, many people who share my sentiment and who will not be happy with anyone else as the Phantom in this movie.

Comments: Michael Crawford is the most fantastic Phantom ever to take the stage. If they do not make him the Phantom in the movie, I will be sorely disappointed. I recommend, for those of you who read this, to boycott the
