Comments: Michael Crawford is truly a phantom itself. I can't see why Warner Bros don't cast him in THE PHANTOM. He really can bring out the phantom's feeling, make us love and pity this wicked murderer. And that's a very hard task. I'll be looking forward to see Michael Crawford in THE PHANTOM.

Comments: I've been on this site for almost a month now, not nearly as long as most people here, but it didn't even take five minutes of looking around here to convince me that MC is POTO. I've always loved him, but I didn't realize the severity of the injustice which is being done until I came here and looked around. I just want to thank everyone for opening my eyes! Merci, KDH

Comments: I don't know if this kind of thought has been said already, but my thoughts are. I come from a low income family, but I would still find the money to pay any price to see Micheal as the Phantom. Any one else as the Phantom and i would not consider it worth the money. Isn't the bottom line, making money. I have all the Micheal Crawford merchandise I can lay my hands on. Micheal would ensure the success of the movie.

Comments: As a huge fan of the stage musical, Phantom of the Opera, I can see that you have an amazing opportunity. When Phantom is made into a film, you can create a masterpiece, an instant classic, and a movie that will go down in history as the definitive version of the stage play. How is that? It is actually very simple. Cast Michael as the role he invented and made his own, as the Phantom. There are literally millions of people worldwide who are familiar with him as the choice of the Phantom. He is the one, the only Phantom of the Opera. Make a movie we all will be proud of. Michael Crawford as the Phantom of the Opera.

Comments: And now for the price of a movie ticket you can see The Phantom of the Opera starring the original and unforgetable Michael Crawford as the Phantom and Antonio Banderas as the handsome Raoul. Only Michael Crawford can make you love the phantom as Christine struggles with her love for the outward beauty of Raoul and the inward beauty of the phantom.

An editor from a London based newspaper recently saw the name Flogerzi in connection with the campaign, and contacted Ms. Jones, who was adopted at birth and has been searching for her family. It has turned out that she is a cousin to our webmaster Steven Flogerzi. Small world isn't it?

Comments: Under the makeup and the mask, no one will be able to see a Hollywood face. It is the voice that matters, and, with all due respect, Banderas is no Angel of Music. Only one man on earth has been blessed by God with the essence to fill that role, and that is Mr. Crawford.

What was andrew lloyd webber thinking when he cast an actor with a spanish accent? also that they don't have sarah brightman in it either. i love and adore the phantom of the opera, and i will probably not see the movie version as a result of the casting disaster. thank you.

So far I have seen it for 15 times with all the others witch they are good, and they are trying their best.. To make movie this musical it will be the best for all of as the "Phanatic Phans Of The Phantom", BUT PLEASE... give us the original Phantom MICHAEL CRAWFORD.!!!! Comments: I believe that Michael Crawford should play the Phantom in the POTO movie, because he is the original and first Phantom and the absolute BEST Phantom ever. If he is not cast as the Phantom in the POTO movie, that will be quite a loss, and a real waste. The true Phantom is Michael Crawford, and therefore should play the Phantom in the movie.

Comments: I am 23 years old and have been a Weber fan ever since I can remember. I was first introduced to POTO in college when a friend of mine played the soundtrack. Of course, it featured Michael and Sarah and I was immediately hooked. I was crushed to hear that they no longer tour. I felt cheated that, simply because I was born 10 years too late, I would never get to experience POTO with the talent and intensity of Crawford on stage. When I found out about the possiblity of the Phantom movie with Michael Crawford I was estatic!! Now that I have found out that they might NOT use Michael, I feel even lower than I felt before. Here is the chance to immortalize the first and only Phantom and 'the powers that be' cannot confirm the casting decisions??? I'm sorry but I don't want my children growing up knowing Antonio Bendaras as the Phantom. I believe that every generation has the right to know how wonderful Crawford is and how he made Phantom what it is today. In addition, I think I am a testiment to Michael Crawford's talent in that I became a POTO fan simply by hearing him sing. I was pulled into the story by his voice. No special effects or costumes, just Michael's "Music of the Night".

Please get on with it and allow Michael and Sarah to bring these glittering performances to us.

Comments: I think that the whole idea of making the muscial into a movie is good - but it depends how it turns out. In the past, movies have been made into musicals and have been a great success. Whereas, visa versa, its a different subject. The success of the musical is definately attached to the amazing acting abilities of Michael Crawford. If he was to be cast once again as the phantom, I'm sure the movie would just as successful.

I plan to wear "Michael for Phantom Movie" stuff so all the people can see - of course I will have things to advertise this website as well if at all possible - Michael Crawford is the ONLY Phantom - his age doesn't matter - the Phantom was a "slightly older man" and Crawford is "slightly older" than he was 12 years ago - but HE IS THE ONLY ONE!! People are disgusted from what i hear that the Phantoms in New York and on the Tour groups all pretty much "suck" - Get this!!! THEY ARE GLAD THAT CHRISTINE GOES WITH RAOUL AT THE END!!! Michael is the ONLY one that can do the part - He alone can make Webber's music take flight....

Comments: Awesome web site! It's ludicrous that everybody else on the planet can figure out that Crawford is the one and only real phantom while Lloyd Webber, Kapur, Ben Elton and Warner Brothers seem to be completely clueless about who made POTO popular in the first place and a HUGE MONEYMAKER!!! Who do they figure will be going to see the movie if they tick off the 58 million Phantom fans? Maybe, all the huge throngs of movie goers who flocked to see their stupendous movies of this past summer?! You can hear the sound of the crickets now.

An attemt by anyone else portraying that which Michael Crawford made into perfection is ludicrous! Michael was promised the role years ago, and that promise should be honored. Please don't allow this film to become a farse instead of the real piece of art that it can and should be! Cathy Hatcher

Antonio Bandaras could never do justice to the part of the Phantom. And when I heard him sing the Phantom of the Opera on Andrew Lloyd Weber's 50th birthday celebration I was even more convinced that he is the WRONG person for the part. Michael Crawford is a natural for the part and I believe that Warner Brothers would have an Academy Award Winner with Michael in the role. He is the only person I would go to the movies to see in this part. Caryl Johnson

I saw Michael in a TV performance back about 1988 (he was in the full mask and cape costume) and he was spectacular. I was just mesmerized. Even now, when I see him in interviews and he starts talking about the Phantom, you can just feel a certain level of energy and excitement that radiates from him. It would be just fabulous to see him in this role and I wish the people who are to make this movie would realize this and do the right thing! CAST MICHAEL CRAWFORD AS THE PHANTOM!

I didn't really want there to be a movie in the first place, but if there has to be, then Michael Crawford must be cast as the Phantom. Otherwise, it's questionable as to whether I'll even go see it. Comments: I do hope Warner Brothers make the brave decision and cast Michael Crawford as the Phantom. For all the splendour and excitement of the story and score, the central performance is totally crucial - it has to be spell binging, it has to be haunting, it has to knock you for 6. It may have been a while since Crawford appeared as the phantom, but recent appearances show he still has what it takes and it would be a big mistake to go for the glamorous option of a big movie star such as Banderas. Please make the right decision Warner Brothers. Please consider Crawford, meet with him, do screen tests. Save your worries for the remaining casting, just get the corner stone of the prodcution right. Crawford wants to do it - he will want to convince you , you will be convinced. Don't throw the usual rule-book of blockbuster film making at something which is clearly not your every day action-pic - take a leaf out of Lloyd -Webber's book - choose the man who no one would have dreamed of casting as the Phantom when it was announced, and who subsequently took the world's audiences and critics by storm. Work to engineer the same success on screen - it can be done. Please do it ! J Evens

Anyone who is anyone knows that Michael Crawford is the only man for the role, he spent months and months preparing the role of the Phantom for the stage, imagine how effective that would be on film!! So, 'Sir' Lloyd Webber wants a big name to bring in the big audiences, does he? Well this is where I get a little confused....Big Name equals Antonio Banderas???? Nope, I don't get it. And ALW really should realise that no one gets it..and no one ever will, especially not when there is such obvious talent staring him right in the face!! *huh* I just don't get it!?!?! Comments: I think that Crawford should be the rightful one to play the role of the Phantom if there is to be a movie. This is the only way to bring to the screen the poetic and beautiful aura of the story of the Phantom in its best form. If others are cast as the Phantom, not only will it be foolish, but it will also put the story in grave danger in allowing another to portray a character that calls for so much emotion and dedication. Emotion and dedication which none other than Crawford can even come CLOSE to pulling off! Obviously, you see MY vote!

Comments: Please Please don't make the same mistake with Phantom that they did with Evita. The casting was just not right and musical fans got cheated out of what could have been an excellent movie. Remember what happened to Gypsy? It just was not Rosalinds role. Please put Michale Crawford in the movie. I promise I will see it again and again and will make all my friends do so. But anyone else? No wonder I don't go to movies anymore.

Comments: A promise was made to the fans of POTO back in the early 90's. The promise was that the movie version was going to include the casting of Michael Crawford as the Phantom. If the trust of the general public, the ones who pay to see the movies and stage productions and therefore provide the income for all aspects of the entertainment business, is at all important then this promise will be honored. If it is not honored, millions of fans of stage and movie productions will deny their support of this and all other projects by the parties involved in making the movie. Please honor the promise made so that fans will not have to lament, as the Phantom did, "Its over now the music of the night."

Comments: Thank you for your excellent site and for promoting a "worthy cause" in the world of the arts. With Michael Crawford as the phantom in the movie, it would certainly have a greater potential to be a work of artistic filmmaking with a universal and enduring appeal. I very much hope, along with you all, that Mr. Crawford will play the role. Thanks again!

Comments: I had the privilege of seeing Michael Crawford perform as Phantom once in Los Angeles. I have seen the show many times since, but I never was so emotionally moved as I was by Michael's performance. There is no one else who can play the role as he did. If he is not cast, I do not plan to see the film.

Comments: There is no one in this world that could portray Phantom better than Mr. Crawford. His God given talents should not be ignored. I hope that the fine people at WB as well as Sir Webber know this and plan to cast him in the role that he set the standard for. Good luck to Mr. Crawford and to the campaign.

Comments: DEAR "POWERS THAT BE"-----PLEASE Have Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's "THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA" WITH MR. MICHAEL CRAWFORD in the lead role brought out on video cassette. It is with MUCH SADNESS AND REGRET that I state here and now that I have NEVER SEEN MR. MICHAEL CRAWFORD AS "ERIK, THE PHANTOM", and this is ONE WISH that I would DEARLY LOVE TO SEE COME {QUICKLY} TO FRUITION. Due to circumstances that I have had ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL OVER WHATSOEVER {for one thing, being stuck in oz, sigh}, I have never been able to travel to get to see MICHAEL CRAWFORD in "PHANTOM", and, believe me, traveling overseas, ESPECIALLY TO SEE MICHAEL IN "PHANTOM" would be the ultimate CREAM ON THE very delicious CAKE for me {IF it were ONLY POSSIBLE}. Thank you everybody-----MR. MICHAEL CRAWFORD FOR "ERIK; THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA"; {OR-----I WILL DROP THE CHANDELIER ONTO YOUR HEADS!!!! MANIACAL LAUGHTER!!!!} Love to you all, Jaime D. CRAWFORD.

Comments: Please....it has been a very long time...we have begged and pleaded....you know what will make the fans happy. There are so many of us behind the casting of Michael Crawford as the PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. So many of us that, just like seeing the play many, many times, will be going to see the movie many many times...as long as Michael Crawford plays the Phantom. You did such a good job casting him in the first place. Along with the excellent lyrics and music, he has helped make this musical the legend that it is. Please let us all continue to enjoy it!

Comments: The first time I saw Phantom on Broadway, it was too late to see Michael Crawford star in the role. The performances were still wonderful, Webber's music is phenomenal, BUT there is NO rendition of "Music of the Night" (and the rest of the amazing music) like Michael Crawford's. Not only does it move me every time I listen to it on CD, but having seen the PBS special he did, the image of him singing this is one of the MOST captivating I've ever experienced. Having taped it, I played it repeatedly into the night; I just couldn't get enough of it. I'd always said I wished they'd make a movie of Phantom, and it never even entered my mind that the main roles would be cast by any other than Michael Crawford and Sarah Brighton. When I heard that the studio intended to cast Antonio Banderas, I was shocked. The only reason they could have is because he is a "so-called" sex symbol (not in my opinion)and they saw more $ at the box office. In conversation with anyone who knows the music/play, the reactions and opinions are the same....with a shudder..."Nooooooo! How COULD they?!" This will be a HUGE mistake on the studio's part, because the people who would be guaranteed patrons of the movie are those who are already fans, those who feel as I do..... ONLY with Michael Crawford. For some reason, the studio is ignoring the fact that there are a lot of older men cast in films that are considered sex symbols and box office draws, even by teenagers (I have one so I know). Michael Crawford is a very attractive, sexy man with an incredible voice and the gift to use it that makes women melt(it moves men too, believe me). This role and story is about passion and longing. Passion IS Michael Crawford. There is really nothing about Antonio that fits the role. I saw him on the Andrew Lloyd Webber anniversary special on PBS and to me, his appearance was the low point of the show. I'm not saying he can't sing. Lots of people can "sing", but there are singers and then there are "SINGERS!" (Streisand did the "Music of the Night" with whom?...Crawford!) In Evita they needed a latin lead which is why he was cast properly, but he doesn't have the kind of talent to pull off Phantom. He simply doesn't belong there. Truthfully, if the studio casts him (or anyone but Michael) I not only predict a flop, I'm hoping for it. Cast Crawford and you've got Box Office Gold! Then, and ONLY then, I, only one of millions, will see it more than once in the theater, and will buy several copies on videotape, for myself and as gifts for the other loyal Phantom Fans I know. Don't be such Phools!

Comments: I've said it before and I'll say it again. Phantom of the Opera without Michael Crawford would not BE Phantom of the Opera, but rather a sadly lacking rip off. Michael Crawford was, is and always will be the Phantom and no one else could possibly take his place. A Phantom of the Opera movie without Michael Crawford? Comments: I think that Warner Bros. would make a Huge mistake if they made the POTO movie and didn't use Michael Crawford. Michael Crawford is the one who brought the phantom to life. He made the phantom what it is today. And if they chose someone over Michael Crawford, in my opinion, they would be making a Huge mistake. Use Michael Crawford or simply forget about doing a movie!

Comments: There is no actor more suitable for the role of the Phantom in the movie than Michael Crawford! Some people may argue that he is too old ... I would say that he's "aged to perfection." He's excellent, and he knows the musical character better than anyone else. Besides, would you really want to dissapoint your PHans? ... The people that would be either supporting (Crawford) or Boycotting (anyone who hasn't done the role in theater) your motion picture? We can be your biggest patrons, or your harshest critics! ~Tim

Warner Brothers would be missing out on a high volume of repeat sales tickets to the movies, along with video sales. Comments: I totally agree. If Hollywood makes another Phantom of the Opera movie, their number one pick to play the role of the phantom should be Michael Crawford. He is the person who brought life to the character. No one in Hollywood can play the Phantom like Michael. Matter of fact, I think the original broadway cast, should be the first selection if and when Hollywood makes the movie. Michael Crawford is MY Favorite broadway performer, as well as singer. I am really looking forward to seeing him in the movie. Hollywood has not saw that many actors that is in the same category as Michael Crawford. He is such a talented actor, that Hollywood has no idea what to do with him. Look at all the actors in Hollywood today, they just don't compare to the actors of yesterday. Michael Crawford Rules!

Comments: I do not see why this has even become an issue. Michael Crawford CREATED the role of the Phantom and has openly expressed his interest in playing the part once again for the movie. No one has EVER given a better performance as the Phantom than Michael. Why is Antonio Banderas even considered?? Because they want the movie to have stars that kids nowadays recognize?? Because he was in the movie Evita?? I'm sure we have all seen his performance with Sarah Brightman at Andrew Lloyd Webber's party. I tip my hat to those of you who refrained from throwing up during it...because I couldn't hold it in. I like Antonio Banderas a lot, but the man has NO RIGHT playing the role of the Phantom...and he proved it during that song. Michael Crawford has the tradition, the will, and most importantly, the TALENT to handle this demanding role. Once again, I have no idea how this has even become an issue. Michael Crawford IS The Phantom of the Opera! PERIOD!

Comments: What pathetic irony! If nothing else, the story of the Phantom of the Opera is about MUSIC. Music, love, betrayl, good vs. evil, and judging. Isn't that the movie that we're all discussing? I suppose now life is imitating art. By casting Banderas in the part, we can rule out the chance of any truly great music in the movie(he's good, but he's no Michael Crawford!). And talk about betrayl!!! How vain people can be, choosing Banderas...why? I suppose I've never understood that. Because he's younger? Because he's a "big name?" A little reference check...the phantom is supposed to be a man in his 50s, according to the novel. And I don't recall anything about him being Spanish...did I overlook something? Look around! Countless people are so strongly devoted to Crawford that we're taking time out of our lives to state our opinions! I'm begining to think that Michael Crawford is a bigger name than Banderas can ever hope to be. Think about it. Not if, but WHEN you at WB come to your senses and cast Crawford, believe me when I say you'll be glad you did. Thanks for your time.

No one else comes close(except Scott Davies)amd it would be unjust to cast a 'big name' after the amount of time and effeort and infact blodd sweat and tears michael has given to the show. To cast someone who has not played the role on stage is unfair. MICHAEL WE LOVE YOU!!!!

Comments: I have been a fan of Michael Crawford since I was in high school when my sister and I saw him in the movie, "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" and thought he was fabulous. My sister and I somehow dragged our parents to New York to see him in "Black Comedy" with Geraldine Fitzgerald. More than 25 years later, my sister surprised my husband and myself with tickets to the production of "Phantom of the Opera" soon after it opened in New York. She had seen the musical in London and was so overwhelmed by Michael Crawford's performance that she stood in line for hours the day the tickets first became available, and bought the tickets to the New York production for everyone in our family, parents and siblings. Even today, almost 12 years later, when I just took my own daughter to see the Phantom to celebrate her 10th birthday; it is the original CD that gave her the love for the production. His voice is so haunting, and his portrayal so real that I can still remember it, and was yearning to see him enter the stage at the last minute to surprise me, since no one else could ever be the Phantom for me.

Hollywood-- DON'T mess this one up! If done well, this is a movie that could make the responce shown to "Titanic" seem paltry. When will people ever learn not to mess with perfection? Michael Crawford IS the Phantom of the Opera! Chelsie G.
