The show was incredible with him and all the people who saw him live and especially those who missed him, would DEFINITELY pay to see the movie! There's much money to be made with this extremely talented (and well-known) Phantom! |

When I heard what Warner Bros. was trying to do, I couldn't believe it! I have been a fan of The Phantom for many years, but by far my favorite telling of the story is this great musical. I cannot imagine anyone doing justice to the role Mr. Crawford made famous. No one has a voice like his, and no one else could make the phantom so human. I am appalled that Warner Bros. thinks they could loose money with Mr. Crawford in the role. I will do everything I can to support your effort, including boycotting all things Warner Bros. if they make the grave mistake of casting someone else. My luck to you, and may you be victorious! : ) |

I immediately rushed out to get the full length CD, and much to my luck, I discovered the beauty that is Micheal Crawford. Micheal Crawford's voice is the only one I can see doing the role of the Phantom any justice on the big screen. His power, his grace and his emotion bring such an impact to the role, that I just cannot see anyone else playing it. With all due respect, Antonio Banderas is a wonderful actor, and suprisingly, a great singer. However, there is a great difference between his role in Evita, and the role of the Phantom. As Mr. Lloyd Webber himself even wrote... "the role...calls for charm and appeal... Which makes my casting in a word... IDEAL." |

Together they created the magic and oviegoers want their work on screen available for all time. The thought of Hollywood actors being considered for the role and having their voices dubbed by other singers is absolutely terrible. I would NOT go to see it. |

Katherine Hepburn called Kristien's performance on Broadway "one of the finest performances on Broadway I've ever seen," and Kristien's appearances with Crawford on his PBS special and recent national and world tours serve to reinforce how highly he thinks of her abilities as a vocalist and performer. I hope you will consider adding an endorsement of Ms. Kristien for the movie version of The Phantom. Thank you. |

I have been a big Phantom Fan ever since I first heard the music many years ago. To me, Michael Crawford is "THE PHANTOM". Even though I have not actually seen Crawford in the role, I have seen others, Crawford is far the best one to protray the character on film. You can hear it in his voice, see it in his stature, you can even feel the emotions he is exuding as he plays the character. My vote: Michael Crawford as the Phantom. |

I really look forward to the movie version of Phantom, and it would be a great shame if I had to boycott it if they do not cast Michael in it. Such a movie would be lacking any integrity needed to make such a film possible. I will either see Mr. Crawford in this movie or I will have nothing to do with it whatsoever. I have looked forward to the day when such a magnificent concept would become a reality. Only Michael Crawford in the role would inspire me to go see the movie. Any other actor would be an unbelievable disappointment. Are not the movie executives wanting to make money? If Warner Bros. insists on casting anyone other than Michael Crawford as the Phantom, this movie is destined for box office disaster. Mr. Crawford has a long and distinguished career both in film and on stage and totally immortalized this role. As such, audiences will attend this movie to relive seeing Mr. Crawford's stage performance, or, for those of us who were not lucky enough to see him first hand on Broadway, to experience the magic as we were meant to. Take heed, Warner Bros. - the difference between a good movie and a box office/critical smash boils down to one simple choice. We hope you will choose wisely. |

I have seen the Phantom in Toronto 8 different times with 8 different Phantoms and none gave the character the depth and emotion that Michael did. His interpretation gives Phantom a sensitive edge and his desire to be loved by his dream Christine where the others play Phantom as an angry punisher that you never really root for. I think Micheal's voice and acting abilities are the perfect pair for him to do the movie. I know I wouldn't be disappointed if he does the movie. Anyone else will simply come up lacking for me. |

These were all disastrous mistakes. Have any of you tried to watch the film of Man of LaMancha. These were all great musicals ruined by the studios. Learn from their mistakes. Larry Sampson |

I have never seen Mr. Crawford become the phantom in person, and only have heard him in the role on the original sound tracks. But when he portrays this poor tortured character, he puts such emotion into his acting and singing, that the phantom comes alive in such a way it blows away any compitition. Please, for all us Phantom fans out here, consider placing Micheal in HIS role as the Phantom. Its where he belongs. Thank you for taking the time to read this, I know you'll make the right choice! |

Right...Michael Crawford!!! I just bought the full-length original London cast recording on a whim and now it's the only thing I listen to. Because of where I live, I doubt I'll ever get to see a live show (though if it comes within 300 miles of here...I'm going!), so chances are that the movie is the only way I'll ever get to see it. I know many, many people who are in my shoes, who have also fallen in love with Mr. Crawford's Phantom. If you are going to recreate this production onto film...why not give the role to the man who "created" the Phantom? I have viewed both videos. I must say that Mr. Banderas had a fair performance...but it doesn't even compare to the magic that Mr. Crawford performs on stage!!! The part of the Phantom is very deep and complex...and I just don't think Mr. Banderas has it in him to portray such a role. Please don't be a fool here. You have a lot of people out here who plan to boycott if the role is given to the wrong man. I have even talked to people who aren't really fans, who don't even know who Michael Crawford is, who can't see Antonio Banderas in the role. From what I understand, you say that it doesn't matter what the fans think. Well...if you cast the wrong man, the fans boycott...YOU don't make money!!! I'm a business major in college...I know what you're trying to accomplish. It is not going to work! You must produce a quality product. History has shown time and time again that just because something is popular doesn't mean that it will last forever. Only quality endures. I am reminded of an old saying: "What is right is not always popular...what is popular is not always right." Resorting to a cheap substitute for the role just because he is one of the most popular actors out there...it doesn't work!!! (Again...don't get me wrong...Mr. Banderas is a good singer...but he doesn't measure up!) You must do what is right. Let me appeal to your selfish side for a minute. Remember "Titanic"? Know how it made over 2 billion dollars in the box office (if I'm mistaken about the amount, I apologize...that's what I remember hearing)? Just about everybody who saw it (which was practically everybody in the world) saw it more than once in the theater. I personally saw it five times. Why? Not because of the popularity of the actors...because of the quality of the production and because of the timelessness of the story. I promise you...if you cast Mr. Banderas, you probably won't do too shabby in the box office...but if you cast Mr. Crawford, it will be another "Titanic"...a quality production...a timeless story. How can you go wrong? If you still will not listen to us...if you still insist on casting anyone other than Mr. Crawford (or furthermore, anyone else who has not performed the Phantom onstage), I urge you to give us one good solid reason why you would make that decision. I know you're not stupid. You've been in the business for a long time. Listen to your public. Contrary to what you have said, we DO matter (if we didn't, why would you be making this movie in the first place?). You know what you must do...it's the only right thing to do. You must cast Mr. Crawford. Thank you in advance for making the right decision. I am confident you will do the right thing. |

Sproule Website: Referred by: From a Friend From: London, UK Time: 1999-08-09 05:37:16 Comments: I moved to the UK in 1990.. and since then I have made several friends who saw the original production at Her Majesty's theatre in London, UK. Each has told me about the tremendous impact Michael Crawford had in the role. I have the original cast recording and I am impressed by Michael's vocal talents. I have often wished I had been able to see him in this role.. but consoled myself with the thought that surely he would recreate the role in the movie version. This was going to be the only way I would see his creation of the Phantom. How distressing to find that he may not! My own small informal poll of some my friends here in the UK (about 10 people) all agreed that - at least in the UK - Michael's name would be a certain draw to the movie version! Please let Michael record his creation for posterity's sake! |

I am doing all I can to not have ANOTHER NERVOUS BREAKDOWN over this and I find it mighty hard. This site and all who have signed here keep me slightly on this side of sanity. Thank you all. Michael is the only Phantom. I hope for his own health that ALW sees this soon. I have a strange feeling if these demands are not met, a disaster beyond his imagination will occur....but I'm not quite sure where I got such an idea. You know, Warner Bros. and ALW might want to think twice before acting against our wishes. We learned from the master how to get our way, and what to do if we don't! Yes, I believe some very interesing things will happen should the casting not please us. I see large expensive light fixtures falling, and Antonio Banderas underneath. I see punjab lassos. You see, WB and ALW, we are all Phantoms in training. "Mini-O.G." I guess one could say. ***You gave us the music.... we made the play take phlight.... And now.... how you've repaid us.... denied us and betryaed us.... We the Phans won't vanish.... wont phall without a phight.... I'm never going to go away, am I? -Kat |

Now, having seen Phantom over 20 times since 1988, and NO PHANTOM CAME CLOSE TO MICHAEL CRAWFORD! Wake up Warner Bros. and ALW! We all spent lots of money for theater tickets and spread the word that Phantom was a must see over and over! Michael Crawford must be the movie Phantom! If our demands are not met, a disaster beyond your wildest imagination...will be the movie box office receipts! |

His body language whilst interacting with Sarah Brightman is amazing. Also, it is his voice on the soundtrack that we are all so familiar with. Age doesn't matter. His face is half covered by the mask anyway. Michael Crawford IS the Phantom! |

I just want to say that I am thrilled to have found out about the Michael Crawford Phantom movie campaign's efforts to give the world what they deserve:THE ONE AND ONLY MICHAEL CRAWFORD AS THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA!!! I was leaping off of my chair and singing to the stars when I found out that Michael Crawford was going to be starring in the new Phantom movie, and my heart and soul was shattered in about the same amount of time when I found out that John Travolta or Antonio Banderas would be considered for the role of Erik. Let me tell you something people, being 13 years old dosn't help at all to ease the pain. Well, like all those thousands of people out there who are speaking out, I too will join the ranks and help in any way I can to help get Michael Crawford where he belongs; playing the Phantom's role as it was meant to be played. Now if I can only find my pen. |

The moviegoer of the 90's is too intelligent to be taken in by outdated box office tactics. Don't insult our intelligence. We know a great product versus a cheap sell. Do us all a favor and create this film in the tradition that formed Hollywood in the first place. This musical is primed to be a Hollywood classic. Now make it happen. Or else. Jake |

Although he was great in Evita, I don't think he would make a great phantom, especially if Antonio is Latin, and the character is french! I believe Micheal would be the best choice for the role, I mean c'mon, he was the person who made the musical a true classic. So make Micheal the Phantom or else "a disaster beyond your imagination will occur!" Go Micheal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
